Creativity

With the proliferation of software apps, Copyright law in the U.S. has taken on new significance. Aspects of new technology are protected by copyright law, in addition to other forms of intellectual property.

Unlike Patents that must be filed with the USPTO to garner protection, Trademarks and Copyrights can obtain some level of protection merely by someone publishing the work. However, to obtain maximum protection, government filing is required.

Copyright protection may be obtained for many different written and literary works including logos and product packaging; software and databases; audio recordings and music; film, video productions, and motion pictures; technical and architectural designs; books, magazines, and other written and paper publications; sculptures; fabric designs; compilations; examinations and tests; games; puzzles; and masking works (computer chips).
